So, these first two weeks have been challenging, but also incredible rewarding.
The first night that I ran, last week, my shins were *killing* me. I had to stop a few times to stretch them, and I didn't do a very good job of stretching beforehand. I ran through the pain though, and I'm happy that I did.
I was supposed to run three times this week and I messed up, so that I can only run twice. I need to learn that if I put it off, then it probably won't get done. So I'm going to make up for it this week so I don't get behind. The run I did on Friday night wasn't too bad. I did some shin stretches before I went out so my shins wouldn't hurt too bad, and it was really helpful. They didn't hurt nearly as bad. I felt great after my run, and it was even my long one. I felt like I could actually, maybe, become a runner again.
I've been getting really interested in doing some races. I want to do the Thanksgiving Run on San Jose. That was is so much fun because it's Thanksgiving Day and you're doing your exercise early, then you get to pig-out the rest of the day. I'm really interested in doing the Christmas Run, and I can't wait to sign up for the Gate River Run.
A few slogans that I need to remember this week:
1. You can't just run when it feels good.
2. No matter how slow you're going, you're going faster than people sitting on the couch.
3. If it was easy, everyone would do it.
4. I can, and I will.
5. In order to become something different, you have to do something different.
