So, these first two weeks have been challenging, but also incredible rewarding.
The first night that I ran, last week, my shins were *killing* me. I had to stop a few times to stretch them, and I didn't do a very good job of stretching beforehand. I ran through the pain though, and I'm happy that I did.
I was supposed to run three times this week and I messed up, so that I can only run twice. I need to learn that if I put it off, then it probably won't get done. So I'm going to make up for it this week so I don't get behind. The run I did on Friday night wasn't too bad. I did some shin stretches before I went out so my shins wouldn't hurt too bad, and it was really helpful. They didn't hurt nearly as bad. I felt great after my run, and it was even my long one. I felt like I could actually, maybe, become a runner again.
I've been getting really interested in doing some races. I want to do the Thanksgiving Run on San Jose. That was is so much fun because it's Thanksgiving Day and you're doing your exercise early, then you get to pig-out the rest of the day. I'm really interested in doing the Christmas Run, and I can't wait to sign up for the Gate River Run.
A few slogans that I need to remember this week:
1. You can't just run when it feels good.
2. No matter how slow you're going, you're going faster than people sitting on the couch.
3. If it was easy, everyone would do it.
4. I can, and I will.
5. In order to become something different, you have to do something different.

Introduction, and Motivation
Hi there folks!!!
Thanks for checking out the blog! Mrs. Brown, Ms. Bolling, and I are really REALLY excited about this club and everything that we're going to accomplish. We're going to get sweaty, we're going to get healthy, and we're going to become runners- I PROMISE you! It's unfortunate that we only meet every other week because we won't get to know each other *that* well, but that's what this blog is for!!
Feel free to post your questions or concerns or suggestions on here. This club is about all of us getting through this together though, so this is a place of positivity- keep your negative comments off of this blog. I will often post pictures and quotes of encouragement, and you can do the same. I will also be using this as some accountability, meaning that I will post occasionally what my own personal status is and what I've done that week. I encourage you to do the same.
Please know that this club can become whatever you want it to be so please feel free to suggest things that you think will work. If you want to run together before school, after school, on the weekends, over holidays, etc we can definitely do that. I will be pretty flexible just to ensure that you're running!!
Some things to know before you begin:
1. You will get sore and tired
2. It will be frustrating sometimes
3. You will have days when you don't want to run- but TRUST ME when you do run, you will be so glad you did.
4. You WILL become a runner if you follow this program that I've outlined for you.
If you have any questions, you can email me BoggessH@duvalschools.org
